In pursuance of the provisions of Section 249 of the Local Government Act 1972, the Council is requested to consider conferring Honorary Alderman status upon a former Councillor, Ian Carr.

Minutes:

Consideration was given to a report of the Head of Legal and Democratic Services which set out a proposal to confer the status of Honorary Alderman upon Ian Carr MBE as a past member of Test Valley Borough Council in recognition of his having rendered eminent services to the Council and to the people of Test Valley.

 

Councillor North moved the motion and Councillor Celia Dowden seconded the motion.

 

Resolved:

 

That, pursuant to the provisions of the Local Government Act 1972, the status of Honorary Alderman be conferred upon Ian Carr MBE as a past member of Test Valley Borough Council in recognition of his having rendered eminent services to the Council and to the people of Test Valley.

 

The Mayor called Alderman Ian Carr MBE and Mrs Beryl Carr forward and invested Alderman Carr MBE with his Alderman Badge. The Mayor congratulated Alderman Carr on his appointment on behalf of the Council.
