To approve as a correct record the minutes of the meeting held on 26 February 2025.

The minutes of the Cabinet meeting held on 26 February 2025 were proposed by Councillor P North and seconded by Councillor Flood.

Resolved:

That the minutes of the meeting held on 26 February 2025 be confirmed and signed as a correct record.

There were no recommendations from the Overview and Scrutiny Committee.

There were no recommendations to consider from the Overview and Scrutiny Committee.

Leader

To agree the submission of an interim plan for the Local Government Reorganisation.

Consideration was given to a report of the Leader which set out details of a joint submission, to be made by the local authorities in the Hampshire and Solent area to the Minister of State for Local Government and English Devolution in relation to proposals for Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) in the area.

The submission fulfilled the Government’s request for an interim plan for LGR to submitted to the Minister by 21 March 2025. The recommendation had been considered by Council at an Extraordinary Meeting earlier in the day on 19 March 2025 and recommended to Cabinet.

Having considered the options and for the reasons set out in the report, the recommendations were proposed by Councillor P North, seconded by Councillor Flood and Cabinet agreed to the following:

Resolved:

That the submission to Government of the interim Local Government Reorganisation proposal for Hampshire and the Solent, as attached as Annex 2 to the report, be approved.
